Rest is one of the most underestimated healthy habits. We all need rest. Even God rested. Our bodies require rest and plenty of it.
When my body does not get the rest it needs, I compensate. I drink too many caffeinated products, and I make poor choices with what I eat. The grumpier I get, the more I am tempted to emotional eating. Being tired compromises my thinking. And, I drift away from God.
One of the ways I stay rested is by making a commitment to go to bed early a few times per week. Be practical with your body as it cannot stay well unrested without an effort by your mind. Take a good look at your commitments and make adjustments if you are overly committed. Be intentional about resting your body.
Praying for you, friend.
“It is in vain that you rise up early and go late to rest, eating the bread of anxious toil; for he gives to his beloved sleep,” (Psalm 127:2).
